Define permitted asset types and associated data fields

Overview

The iCentric asset library can be configured to control both the types of file that can be uploaded to it and, for each category of file type, data fields that are associated with it.

Assets are grouped into seven categories, according to their file extensions;

  1. Images - jpeg, gif, tiff, png , svg, tif, bmp, jpg
  2. Documents - xml, xlsx, xls, wsf, vcd, vb, txt, toast, sql, rtf, pptx, ppt, pps, plugin, pdf, pdb, ott, odt, mdf, mdb, kmz, kml, key, jar, iso, gpx, gadget, exe, docx, doc, dmg, dbf, db, cue, csv, crx, cgi, bin, bat, app, apk, accdb
  3. Video - wmv, swf, rm, mpg, mp4, mov, m4v, flv, avi, asx, asf, 3gp, 3g2
  4. Audio - wma, mav, raw, ra, ogg, oga, mpa, mp3, mid, m4p, m4b, m4a, iff, aiff, aif, aac
  5. Design - xcodeproj, vcxproj, ttf, swift, sln, sh, py, pspimage, psd, ps, pl, pct, otf, obj, max, m, lua, java, indd, h, fon, fnt, fla, eps, dxf, dwg, dwf, dtd, cpp, class, c, blend, anim, aif, 3ds, 3dm
  6. Web - xhtml, html, htm, js
  7. Archive - zipx, zip, tar.gz, sitx, rar, pkg, gz, deb, cbr, 7z

The default file extensions (above) associated with each category can be added to and deleted.

In addition, the administrator can create custom data fields, e.g. alt text, image credits, author etc. These data fields can be set as mandatory (i.e. required at time of upload) and can be flagged for use on front facing websites. Associated data fields can have these types of data input;

  • Checkbox
  • Date
  • Numeric
  • Text field
  • Text area
