iChannels social media manager
iChannels
Manage multiple social media channels.
Overview
The iChannels social media manager provides a console which allows users to add multiple social media streams, post messages to multiple streams, engage in conversations and view statistics of social activities and engagement.
The topics covered in this section are;
Adding and removing social media accounts
Adding streams to tabs and removing streams
Creating, scheduling and sending posts
Adding and removing social media accounts
iChannels > Accounts > Add new account
Select which type of social account you wish to add, i.e. Facebook or Twitter. You will then be prompted to sign in to that account to confirm to confirm that iChannels can access your account. NB, the privacy settings on each account will determine the access level and actions that iChannels has to the account.
Once created, the account will be listed in iChannels and can be deleted.
Creating and deleting tabs
iChannels > + Add a tab
Tabs offer the user a way to divide or separate multiple feeds into tabbed screens, i.e. rather than having twenty feeds on one screen, there can be five screens all with four feeds on.
To create a tab, click the + Add a tab and provide a name for the tab. Tabs can be deleted by clicking the X on the left of each tab. The currently selected tab is highlighted. Clicking the highlighted tab label will force a refresh of all streams on that tab.
Adding streams to tabs and removing streams
iChannels > Your tab > Add a new stream
The stream selector will show a list of all authorized social accounts. Clicking on an account will reveal the available streams for that account, i.e. user, feed, mentions.
Clicking on the required stream will add it to the current tab.
Features within streams
iChannels > Your tab > Your stream
each stream shows an icon at the top left corner, of the social media channel, i.e. Twitter. In the header there will also be the name that you have given to the account and the type of stream. In the top right corner are links to refresh and remove the stream. In the left column of each stream are thumbnails of the user who made the post, linking to the users profile page.
In Twitter streams, for each post, there are links to retweet, favourite, reply and delete.
In Facebook streams, for each post, there are links to like, comment and delete.
Creating, scheduling and sending posts
iChannels > Post message
Add the content of your post. To add images, click the image icon to reveal the asset picker. Select the required image to add to the post, after the textual content. Any URLs added to the post will automatically be shortened on submission.
Select the accounts that the post should be sent from the list on the left of the screen.
Click Post to send immediately, or use the date / time picker to schedule the send.
Viewing reports
iChannels > Reports
Select the social channel to view statistics for. Set the reporting date / time range and click Go.
Statistics for each type of social account differ, but common to all are statistics in the header shown as 'all time' values, not affected by date range selection.
Under the header is a timeline graph, plotting key activity over the specified date range.
Beneath the graph are lists of activities and supplementary statistics. Where possible, list items will also link to users or posts on the corresponding social media sites.
