Search for items in iCentric.
iCentric includes a federated search feature, which is available throughout iCentric, except from within the page editor. The search entry field will begin predictive searching after three characters have been entered. Results are categorised by result type, with a maximum of ten results showing for each type by default, with a view more link, where applicable.
Searches can be filtered to refine results and improve speed. Searches can also be cleared by clicking the X icon inside the search text field.
The search uses multiple indices to locate content in these areas;
Content - pages in directories, websites, product catalogue and article library.
Assets - all images, documents, video and other file types.
Tools - applications and features within iCentric.
Help - the contents of user documentation.
Results
Results are ordered, according to relevance, determined by matching the search text to different ranking factors. For each type of search these factors are;
Content - Page title, heading, content, categories meta keywords, and culture
Assets - File name, title, textual content (in documents), categories, meta content and culture
Tools - Application name, non-editable keywords, culture
Help - Page title, heading, content, categories meta keywords and culture within https://support.icentric.co.uk
Each result is a hyperlink to the content, asset or application within iCentric. Links to help pages open in a new browser tab.
Search in other languages
Results are returned in the language of the default browser language setting. E.g. a German search term is used. The user's default browser language is set to en-GB. The title of the en-GB version of the page where the German search text resides, is returned. The result links to the en-GB version of the page.
In the same scenario, where the user's browser language is set to German, the title of the German page is returned, linking directly to the German page.
Searching with non Latin 1 characters, (e.g. Chinese, Arabic etc) is subject to these limitations;
1. The search engine will only recognise one character or symbol
2. As the search field requires three characters to activate the search, two spaces should be added after the character has been entered.
